BeYOUtiful Bath Bombs and More

Garland Avenue- Bath Bombs and Shower Cakes

Jessie is the founder and owner of BeYOUtiful Bath Bombs and More.  After a lot of research, she made it her mission to develop a line of bath products that were natural, good for your body, and fun to use. This is BeYOUtiful Bath Bombs in a nutshell -- a brand that's natural, local, and actually works well. The essential oils and aromatherapy and skin-safe fragrances we use in each product soothe the skin and leave it feeling ultra-smooth. The best part? You know exactly what you're putting on your body, which feels nicest of all.

AN INTERVIEW WITH OWNER, JESSIE VESELKA:

Q: What inspired you to start making all-natural bath products?

A: My youngest brother was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer three years ago, and when this happened I went into “fix” it mode I guess you could call it and started doing research on all the things we consume and how they relate and can cause cancer. Obviously food is a huge factor but it was so interesting to learn that 99% of the bath and beauty products that are being used contain a gross amount of disturbing ingredients... with your skin being your largest organ in your body it’s easy to see how all these toxic ingredients just soak into your skin and get into your blood stream so quickly.

So we started there, I started making natural skin care and Bath products in my house. Perfecting recipes to where my whole family would use them and love them.

Bath bombs kind of took off And stole the show of our brand because my brother loved to take a good bath after his chemo and radiation treatments and he was a big fan ( and critic) of our bath bombs. It was important to me that they were made right with the best ingredients and a lot of Epsom salts to help his achy body.

I also wanted to have products that everybody could afford regularly. Most products that are “ good for you” are marked up at a incredible rate making it real easy for you to choose the other product because it’s cheaper and fits into your budget.

Q:From the viewpoint of a local business owner, what are some of the greatest benefits of shopping local?

A: Shopping local is so great, for one you get this close and personal shopping experience that you just don’t get at say Target.  You know that someone is behind the scenes working their butt off all hours of the day to make this amazing place for people to come and have an experience. Whether that is a local restaurant, salon, boutique or bath and beauty store.

I know a lot of small business owners and they are some of the most kind and hard working people I have ever met.

Local businesses are part of our community, they care. They are the ones donating to schools fundraisers and sporting teams silent auctions.

I challenge you all to do a comparison someday. Go shop or eat at a big chain and then stop by a similar place that is local and if you can’t feel the difference I would be shocked.  Shopping local is getting that warm fuzzy feeling and being truly happy with your shopping experience.

Also knowing that us business owners don’t have million dollar homes or flying private jets to extravagant vacations. We are people just like in our community, driving used cars, paying our mortgage, hustling our kids carpools after school! I think that is important to know when shopping local. There is a face and a family behind each business.

Q: We know that shopping local benefits the economy and provides jobs for local residents. How many employees does Beyoutiful have?

A: when we had all 3 stores open we employed 15 people.  Due to the raise in minimum wage and some leasing agreements we have shrunk back to 1 location where we have 5 employees currently.

Q: What is your favorite bath bomb and shower cake?

A: this is a hard question being that I make all of them and love them all for one reason or another!

But I would have to say I love all of our seasonal bath bombs the best. Because they are very uniquely made to match the season or holiday and they are just so fun!

However my all time favorite ( and our best seller) is the Milk and Honey!

As far as shower cakes go, Eucalyptus and Lemon are my top favorites! I love using them as a body scrub as well when they have melted down a bit!

If you haven’t tried one I highly recommend it.

Sandie makes Natural Cold Processed Soaps in small batches.  Each batch is cured for a minimum of 3 weeks before packaging.  She adds no coloring in my soaps, however, depending on fragrance or additives such as clay, coffee (or ground), charcoal, etc. you will see a variety of colors, no paraben or phthalates. Sandie ships her soaps nationally.

Nature's Extravagance
By Matt Roberg

Grand Boulevard and Perry Street- Framed Photograph

Matt's Story:

"Nature and adventure have been a big part of my life, as kid my family would go on hiking, fishing and camping trips. That is where I discovered my appreciation for all that nature has to offer. But like a volcano that lays dormant for years so did my days of adventure. Life shifted me in different directions, but that spark always remained and it was about to be reignited. It wasn’t tell after I finished school that the thirst for adventure intensified, the want to make memories and explore beautiful places surpassed the things I was doing in life.
This is also around same time photography entered my life. My photography consisted of a few photos here and there, but with no real understanding of the intricacies and in no way comparable to the beautiful images seen in various media platforms. This continued to be the case as I started to go on various small trips, sometimes my photos panned out, but mostly not. It wasn’t until after my first big trip to Maui that I knew I had to truly learn the art of photography. And so what started out as a basic want for more knowledge turned into a love affair for photography. Hours and hours were spent watching tutorials, reading articles, learning from my favorite photographers, and soaking up everything I could learn. My biggest take away among many: slow down, appreciate what is before you, because it can change in an instant.
Fast forward two years later to 2018 and my love for adventure and photography have never been stronger, it has taken me to places I might never have known of or gone to. I’ve made countless memories and seen spectacular sunrises, turquoise waters, thunderous waterfalls and colossal mountains. To this day I am still in awe of this world right down to a simple cloud formation or the way a field sways in the wind. Through photography I am able to share my adventures, passion and vision of the things I’ve encountered. My hope is that my artwork will inspire and leave you in awe just as it does with me."
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks” John Muir.
"I’m still looking for a photo."

"Nothing Fancy" Goat's Milk Soaps and Lotions

Garland Avenue- Goat's Milk Lotion

"I raise goats, the milk comes from my goats, as I like to say, they have to earn their keep. I have been in business about 5 years. All the products are made by me in my kitchen, (believe me it’s a mess). As of right now I have 21 goats, next year I will have between 15 and 45 babies. They are also meat goats. I don’t start milking until the babies are old enough to wean, that way we have healthy babies." -Sheila Mato
